MANILA 2nd District Rep. Rolando Valeriano on Wednesday filed his certificate of candidacy (CoC) to seek reelection under the National Unity Party (NUP).
“I hope to continue to repay the trust and confidence of the residents of District 2 with even more responsive and relevant services, programs, and legislation that improve the quality of life and advance justice, especially for the poor and disadvantaged. The voters here are aware of what we have achieved for them,” Valeriano said at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) National Capital Region office.
Valeriano, chairman of the House Committee on Metro Manila Development, was on his second term as representative.
The 1987 Constitution grants members of the House of Representatives a term of three years and a maximum of three consecutive terms.
Also on Wednesday, Giselle Mary Maceda filed her CoC for Manila 4th district representative under Asenso Manileño.
She aims to succeed her husband, incumbent Manila 4th District Rep. Edward Maceda.
Other candidates who filed their certificates of candidacy on Wednesday were former lawmaker Manuel Luis Lopez for Manila’s 1st district representative under Asenso Manileño, former Malabon mayor Antolin Oreta for Malabon representative under the NUP, and Bukidnon 2nd District Rep. Jonathan Keith Flores for reelection under Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats.
“We seek reelection to ensure the continued flow of projects, programs, and services to our constituents. We have continually shown to our district the services that have poured into their barangay (village) and towns from the national government because of the national budget hearings,” Flores said at Comelec’s office in Malaybalay City.
“Through the committees we are in, we make sure that laws that come from Congress redound to the benefit of our constituents and the whole country,” added Flores, chairman of the House Committee on Government Reorganization.
