FORMER lawmaker Edgar Erice filed his certificate of candidacy (CoC) on Tuesday in a bid to reclaim his old post as Caloocan City second district representative.

Erice was elected to the post several times, in 2001, 2013, 2016 and 2019.

He ran for Caloocan mayor in 2022 but lost to incumbent Mayor Dave Gonzalo Malapitan.

Running under the Liberal Party, Erice will challenge incumbent Rep. Mitzi Cajayon-Uy, who already filed her CoC for a reelection.

“I will now fight to alleviate the suffering of the people of Caloocan by providing business opportunities, jobs and scholarships,” he said.

“I will fight for political and electoral reforms,” Erice added but declined to elaborate.

It was Erice who filed the certiorari case against the P18-billion contract awarded by the Commission on Elections to Miru Systems earlier this year.
