Vivamax was once a niche streaming platform, but now, it has more than 12 million subscribers in the Philippines and other markets abroad. Needless to say, it has successfully transitioned from a streaming platform into a lifestyle trend.
To celebrate this milestone, Viva Entertainment hosted a party, during which they made 12 exciting announcements, including a major rebranding to VMX. This name change is seen as a strategic move to align with global digital streaming trends, where shorter, more memorable names are favored.
Despite the rebrand, hosts Nicco Loco and Phoebe Walker emphasized that the platform’s core identity remains intact. Subscribers can still expect bold and provocative content, continuing the platform’s tradition of delivering edgy titles and films.
VMX has also expanded beyond digital streaming. In August, it made its cinematic debut with the theatrical release of Unang Tikim, directed by Roman Perez Jr. This move combines Vivamax’s streaming roots with more traditional distribution methods.
The platform’s content continues to be diverse and frequent. Last month, six new titles were introduced, including F-Buddies, Throuple, and Uhaw. With more films slated for release in the coming months, VMX is committed to keeping its audience engaged with fresh and varied content across genres.
Part of VMX’s future strategy includes high-profile releases such as Celestina: Burlesk Dancer, set in the 1940s Philippines. This film explores the life of a woman who turns to burlesque dancing to support her child.
Internationally, VMX is expanding its reach with films being localized for Japan, featuring Japanese subtitles and dubbed versions to appeal to a wider audience.
Additionally, VMX has become a launchpad for many of its talents. Actors like Angeli Khang and Salome Salvi, who gained recognition on VMX, have successfully transitioned to mainstream media, appearing in popular TV series on networks like GMA and TV5.
To further engage with its audience, VMX will soon host the VMX Film Festival, featuring LGBTQ-themed stories that align with the platform’s identity. Also in the pipeline is the highly anticipated Project X: VMX Fashion Show 2024, inspired by Victoria’s Secret.
In conclusion, VMX is firmly positioning itself as a dominant force in the entertainment industry, with ambitious plans to grow its subscriber base to 14 million and continue its trajectory of success.
