An individual has been arrested in Misamis Oriental over the online sexual exploitation of minors, the National Center against online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Material (CSAEM) said Thursday.
In a statement, the center said that the Women and Children Protection Center-Mindanao Field Unit (WCPC-MFU) arrested alias Lyra on November 6 and rescued four minors, of which one was a victim and three were children-at-risk.
The WCPC-MFU found evidence on her social media account that she was offering minors for sexual exploitation in exchange for money.
“Today, we have taken a significant step in our mission to eradicate the online exploitation of children,” Police Lieutenant Colonel Mario Baquiran Jr. of the WCPC-MFU said.
“The rescue of these innocent children is a testament to our commitment of protecting the most vulnerable members of our society. We will not rest until every child is safe and every perpetrator is held accountable,” he added.
The National Center called on the public to report incidents of the online sexual abuse and exploitation of children through the Facebook pages of WCPC and the PNP Women and Children Protection Center.
