Three alleged high-ranking leaders of the New People’s Army (NPA) in southeastern Mindanao were arrested in Cotabato City.

The military identified the NPA leaders as alias “Aman,” secretary of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC); alias “Dewen,” deputy secretary and member of the SMRC Executive Committee; and alias “Memie.”

According to the 10th Infantry Division (10ID), the three were arrested by virtue of warrants for various charges, including illegal possession, manufacture, and acquisition of firearms, ammunition, and explosives; destructive arson; attempted murder; and Crimes Against International Humanitarian Law, Genocide, and other Crime Against Humanity.

10ID Commander, Major General Allan Hambala, lauded the military and other law enforcement agencies involved in the operation.

Hambala said the arrest of the NPA leaders “marks a significant blow to the evading remnants of SMRC in Region 11.”

“This achievement underscores the dedication and synergy of our military and law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and security. The arrest of these key individuals significantly contributes to the total defeat of SMRC and to a safer Southeastern Mindanao,” Hambala said. —GMA Regional TV
