MANILA, Philippines — A security guard at the Tuguegarao Airport in Cagayan has been commended for returning a bag containing cash and jewelry on Saturday, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.
CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio said Gerald Dumrique found the bag at the waiting area and immediately turned it over to the CAAP and the police aviation security unit for proper disposition.
During inspection, authorities found the bag containing P24,621 in cash and pieces of jewelry, including a gold necklace, a pair of earrings and other belongings.
The bag was claimed by a cetain Randy Cauilan, who said the item belonged to his wife.
“Gerard Dumrique, like his fellow guard Joshua Bustamante of the Laguindingan Airport, exemplifies honesty, integrity and good public service – qualities that all public servants should possess,” CAAP director general Manuel Antonio Tamayo said.
