Balota, now in its third week, continues to attract cinema-goers with its story highlighting the dedication of teachers and the importance of safeguarding public votes during elections.
On Sunday, the film featuring Marian Rivera had multiple sold-out screenings nationwide.
Rivera expressed gratitude for the film’s support, stating, “I am deeply grateful to everyone who has supported and watched and will continue to watch Balota. There is still hope for them because I know Balota will enter its third week.”
The majority of the film’s audience consists of teachers and students, with the movie being used in classrooms to foster discussions on citizenship, democracy, and elections. Educators have sent messages expressing inspiration from the film’s recognition of their profession’s dignity and sacrifice.
Rivera noted the film’s bravery in addressing sensitive topics, stating, “Perhaps what they’re saying is that the film is bold in conveying the message we want to share with them.”
Attorney Annette Gozon-Valdes, President of GMA Films, highlighted the film’s growing popularity due to its impactful message; “We see that it is getting stronger and stronger, and I think it’s because it is being talked about.”
Will Ashley, who plays Enzo, Teacher Emmy’s son, expressed pride in being part of the film, stating that their efforts were worth it because of the audience appreciation.
“I am very happy and proud to be a part of ‘Balota’ because everything we went through made all the hard work worth it, as people have appreciated it,” the young actor said.
Produced by GMA Pictures and directed by Kip Oebanda, Balota is adding more screenings this week in cinemas nationwide, with special rates for students and teachers in select locations.
