P-Pop sensation Bini won the “Best Asia Act” award in the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA), the first Filipino group to do so in the said category.
In a video posted by MTV Asia on Monday via X (formerly Twitter), the eight-member girl group thanked the award-giving body for the recognition.
“We’re so thankful for winning the Best Asia Act in this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards,” Bini leader Jhoanna said.
“We hope we can keep sharing our music with you and that the world can discover more of Filipino music,” Mikha added.
Bini social media pages also shared MTV Asia’s post and wrote, “This honor means the world to us, seeing Filipino music shine on the global stage. Maraming salamat po!”
“To our incredible supporters, thank you for voting and believing in us. You inspire us to keep uplifting Filipino talent,” they shared in a separate post.
For the award, Bini competed against some of Asia’s top music acts namely ILLIT from South Korea, Japan’s Sakurazaka46, Indonesia’s Mahalini, and Malaysia’s Masdo.
The awards night was held on Monday morning (Manila time) at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester, England.
Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” won Best Song, while “Fortnight” by Taylor Swift ft. Post Malone won Best Video.
Bini’s new milestone comes just ahead of their sold-out, three-night concert “Grand Biniverse,” set to take place at the Araneta Coliseum from November 16 to 18.
Consisting of members Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena, Bini has released a string of hits including the viral tracks “Pantropiko,” “Salamin, Salamin,” “Lagi,” “Karera” and “Cherry On Top,” among many others.
