Cebu Pacific said Thursday it would mount direct flights between Manila and Sapporo, Japan in January 2025.

The airline unit of the Gokongwei Group said it would operate flights between Manila and Sapporo three times weekly starting Jan. 16, 2025.

Cebu Pacific will be the only airline to offer direct flights between the two cities.

“We are thrilled to be the only carrier to offer non-stop flights between Manila and Sapporo. The launch of this route is a testament to Cebu Pacific’s mission of expanding its international network and making air travel accessible to a wider range of passengers,” said Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer Xander Lao.

“We are excited to offer more Filipinos the opportunity to experience the winter charm of Sapporo,” he said.

With the launch of Cebu Pacific’s direct Manila-Sapporo flights, travelers can cut their travel time to only around five hours from up to 10 hours on other airlines with layovers.

Cebu Pacific operates in 35 domestic and 27 international destinations spread across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.

The airline operates one of the youngest fleets in the world, with its diversified commercial fleet mix of nine Airbus 330s, 40 Airbus 320s, 23 Airbus 321s, and 15 ATR turboprop aircraft enabling the widest network coverage in the Philippines.

Cebu Pacific posted a net income of P3.54 billion from January to June 2024, down from P3.74 billion in the same period last year.

Revenues amounted to P51.439 billion, up by 18.1 percent from P43.55 billion it earned a year ago.
