THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) urged the public to support the amended Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act, which protects the rights of children in conflict with the law.
“In the spirit of collaboration, let us continue to work together in raising awareness, advocating for the protection of children’s rights, and advancing the goals of the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act,” Social Welfare Assistant Secretary Elaine Fallarcuna said on Friday during the culminating event of the 13th Juvenile Justice Week.
“Through our unified efforts, we can create a safer and more just society for our children,” Fallarcuna added.
Among the highlights of the celebration was the announcement of the winners of the Juvenile Justice Management Information System Utilizer Search.
Bahay Pag-Asa Surigao City finished first, while Bahay Pag-Asa Muntinlupa City and Half-Way Home Bago City, Negros Occidental, finished second and third, respectively.
The 13th Juvenile Justice Week was organized by the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council, managed by Tricia Clare Oco.
Social Welfare Assistant Secretary Emmeline Aglipay-Villar said coordinated effort was crucial to saving children from criminal activity.
“By making our society full of love, respect and opportunity, we can help prevent children from committing offenses and provide positive pathways for those who may have made mistakes,” she added.
