SOME 3,000 soldiers from the Navy, Marines, Air Force and Army will take part in a joint exercise to enhance their capability to operate together on external defense, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. said Monday.
Through the exercise, Dagit-PA, the AFP’s Special Operations forces will sharpen their skills in interoperability amid evolving security challenges, Brawner said.
“Our mission today is very clear: to prepare ourselves comprehensively to respond to any external threats that challenge our sovereignty,” Brawner said at the sidelights of the opening ceremony of Dagit-PA in Camp Aguinaldo.
Dagit-PA will involve command post, field training, cyber warfare and information warfare exercises.
“As the nature of warfare evolves, we must equip ourselves not only with the physical readiness but also with robust capabilities in the digital and information domains,” Brawner said.
“There’s a lot of fake news occurring globally. In modern warfare, it is important that information warfare is strong and reliable that could turn the tide of battle,” he said.
Dagit-PA executive agent Col. Michael Logico said exercises would be held in Northern Luzon and in the West Philippine Sea in the western portion of Palawan.
“We will be having island seizure exercises, amphibious counter-landing exercises, and air defense exercises. There will also be joint intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), and maritime security exercises,” Logico said.
