Grandparents will receive their extra benefits in January 2025.
Sen. Bong Revilla Jr., who mainly promoted the Republic Act (RA) 11982 or “Expanding the Coverage of Centenarians Act,” said thousands of grandparents would benefit when the funds for this are released.
The amended law provides that all Filipinos, whether residing in the Philippines or abroad, upon reaching the age of 100, shall receive a cash gift of one P100,000 and a letter of felicitation from the President of the Philippines congratulating the celebrant for their longevity.
All Filipinos, whether residing in the Philippines or abroad, upon reaching the ages of 80, 85, 90 and 95, shall each receive a cash gift of P10,000.
“Grandparents no longer need to reach 100 years old to receive a cash gift from our government. We will immediately give them upon reaching 80 and then provide them again when they reach 85, 90 and 95 years old. And if the Lord grants that they reach a hundred years, we will give them a more significant amount in recognition of what they have achieved,” said Revilla.
To effectively implement the provisions of this Act, the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC), Republic Act 11350, and its implementing rules and regulations shall maintain an elderly data management system recording relevant information on the persons covered by this Act.
The NCSC shall coordinate with the Philippine Statistics Authority PSA, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Department of Information and Communications Technology, and local government units in the online registration of this Act’s beneficiaries.
