MANILA, Philippines — “Hello, Love, Again,” starring Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards set a new record as the highest first-day grossing local film in the Philippines, earning over P85 million on its opening day on Nov. 13.
“Breaking records and stealing hearts #HelloLoveAgain, starring Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo, racks up a jaw-dropping P85 million on its opening day — setting the highest opening gross for a local film,” GMA Pictures wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday.
Directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, the film aims to claim the title of the highest-grossing Filipino film, currently held by the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival hit “Rewind.” Starring Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes, “Rewind” surpassed P900 million at the box office, overtaking “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” the 2019 prequel to “Hello, Love, Again,” which concluded its run with P880 million.
During “Hello, Love, Again’s” red carpet premiere on Tuesday at the SM Megamall, Richards and Bernardo were moved to tears due to the overwhelming support from fans and celebrity friends who attended the event.
Sparkle shared a heartwarming video on Instagram showing the two stars embracing and crying together after watching the film.

They were also supported by GMA and ABS-CBN network executives namely Carlo Katigbak, Cory Vidanes, and Annette Gozon-Valdes.
Following the premiere, the film held a midnight screening — a first for a local film — and it was a sold-out success.
On Wednesday, Richards and Bernardo surprised fans by attending several block screenings hosted by their fan clubs. The stars also appeared on “It’s Showtime” to express their gratitude and share their excitement.
“Last night was so fun. It was our first time watching the full movie at the premiere. We’re very happy, very fulfilled, and we didn’t expect such a great turnout for the film. We’re excited for everyone to see it,” said Richards.
Bernardo added, “It’s nerve-wracking to make a sequel, but after watching it and seeing the feedback from the audience, it warms my heart. I hope you’ll give it a chance. Today is our first day, so thank you to everyone who watched the midnight screenings, those who organized block screenings, and to all who will watch in the coming days. Thank you so much for all the support.” A co-production of Star Cinema and GMA Pictures, “Hello, Love, Again” follows Joy and Ethan who reconnected after five years apart and navigate the complexities of their lives in Canada, rediscovering love and connection amidst their changing circumstances.
“Hello, Love, Again” is now showing in over 500 cinemas nationwide. The film will also be released in North America, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific, and will be screened at the Asian World Film Festival in Los Angeles.
