Jayson Gainza recalled his experience with depression in the latest episode of Mikee Quintos‘ new show, “Lutong Bahay.”

Mikee and Kuya Dudut paid a visit to Jayson’s home, where they cooked humba and lomi, and got to ask the the Kapuso actor and comedian questions about life, work, and family.

During the episode, Mikee asked Jayson’s wife, Denden, how her husband is like when he is jealous.

According to Denden, Jayson isn’t usually jealous, saying that he only became jealous during the time when he got depressed around 2013. During this time, he would also cry suddenly and say things to her like he could no longer carry on.

Jayson shared that he consulted with a psychiatrist after also experiencing sleeplessness.

Per his doctor, his depression may have been triggered by the nature of his work as an actor and comedian, where he has to feel and switch from a range of emotions.

“Depression.

He added that he was able to overcome his depression after taking medication and by drawing closer to God.

“Nag-take ako ng medicine, nag-Bible study kasama ‘yung iba kong friend. Napalapit ako sa Panginoon. Nawala, ganun lang talaga,” he said.

Jayson is a co-host of  “TicktoClock,” which airs 11:00 a.m., Mondays to Fridays, on GMA Network. He also starred on GMA Prime’s “Black Rider,” which aired its final episode in July.
