MANILA, Philippines— The intertropical convergence zone (ITZC) and the northeast monsoon or amihan will bring rain in Northern Luzon and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday.
The two weather systems will trigger scattered rains and thunderstorms in Batanes, Cagayan and Apayao, weather specialist James Daniel Villamil said.
The ITCZ is an imaginary line where air from the northern and southern hemispheres meet while the northeast monsoon brings cold wind from the northeast that brings rain especially over the eastern side of the country.
However, most parts of the country including Metro Manila will have fair weather.
Pagasa said it has not monitored any tropical cyclone or low pressure area forming or entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
“We could expect fair weather conditions in most parts of the country including Metro Manila all throughout the day,” Villamil said.
