MANILA, Philippines —  Ayala Corp. chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala has been recognized as one of the 50 most inspiring and exceptional leaders in the world.

Zobel was included in the inaugural Leaders50 list of London-based Thinkers50, a global authority on management thinking.

The chairman of the country’s oldest conglomerate is the only Filipino on the list.

“I am deeply honored to be included in Thinkers50’s inaugural Leaders50 list. This recognition belongs to the dedicated employees of the Ayala Group, whose unwavering support and commitment enable us to build businesses that help people thrive,” Zobel said in a statement.

“I also share this achievement with our partners and stakeholders, who share our purpose and vision, working closely with us to foster communities and, ultimately, a country where more people can thrive. Thank you for being part of this journey,” he said.

According to Thinkers50, Ayala Corp. has grown into a model of corporate responsibility and innovation, with diverse investments spanning real estate, telecommunications, banking, energy, infrastructure, health care and education under Zobel’s leadership.

“His vision has steered the company towards sustainable growth, aligning business objectives with national development priorities and addressing pressing social challenges,” Thinkers50 said.

“Jaime’s leadership style prioritizes decentralization and empowerment, fostering a culture of collaboration and responsibility within Ayala. His approach has enabled the corporation to navigate complex business landscapes while maintaining a focus on long-term sustainability,” it said.

Thinkers50 said that Zobel has encouraged Ayala’s emphasis on inclusive growth and environmental stewardship by promoting the integration of financial and sustainability reporting.

“Beyond his corporate achievements, Jaime serves as a role model for ethical and impactful leadership. His dedication to social progress has earned him several national honours, including the Presidential Medal of Merit and the Philippine Legion of Honor,” Thinkers50 said.

“Through Ayala Corporation, Jaime has left a profound impact on Philippine society, illustrating how business can both drive economic success and address social and environmental challenges,” it said.

Leaders50 includes leaders from more than 20 countries, with the biggest grouping coming from the US.

The list features other renowned leaders such as Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Chanel’s Leena Nair, GM’s Mary Barra and Ed Bastian of Delta Airlines.
