MANILA, Philippines — A group of lawyers denounced the detention of the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) chief of staff by the House of Representatives.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Quezon City Trial Lawyers League Inc. (QCTLL) characterized the action by the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability as a “blatant disregard” of the constitutional rights to due process and presumption of innocence of Undersecretary Zuleika Lopez.
