Authorities arrested a man in Pasay City for allegedly raping a 12-year-old teenager, James Agustin reported Tuesday on “24 Oras.”
The 34-year-old suspect was struggling when he was arrested by cops from the Batasan Police Station after he arrived at a bus terminal in Pasay City.
The police also retrieved a loaded gun from the suspect.
“Nakatanggap po tayo ng impormasyon na cited itong suspek somewhere in Bicol. Na-monitor natin na papatawid siya ng Maynila at doon na natin siya inabangan sa Pasay bus terminal,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Romil Avenido, the station commander.
(We received information that the suspect was spotted in Bicol. We monitored that he would be going to Manila and we waited for him in a bus terminal in Pasay.)
According to the police, the suspect allegedly raped the teenager in 2023 in Manapala, Negros Occidental.
During the investigation, the police found that the suspect’s gun was not licensed.
The police are still determining if the gun was used in other crimes.
“Ipapa-crossmatch din natin yan doon sa mga areas kung saan siya galing na mayroong reported na shooting incident,” Avenido.
(We will crossmatch if there are reported shooting incidents in the areas he has been to.)
Documents are being prepared for the return of the warrant for the statutory rape case of the suspect.
He will also face charges for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
“Wala ho ako masasabi kasi hindi ko rin alam yan,” the suspect said.
(I have nothing to say because I am also unaware of the allegations against me.) —Mariel Celine Serquiña/LDF, GMA Integrated News
