President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is not closing his doors to a possible reconciliation with Vice President Sara Duterte despite her recent tirades against him.
“Never say never,” Marcos told reporters in an ambush interview when asked to comment on Duterte’s statement that her feud with the President has reached a “point of no return.”
“I believe we reached the point of no return and it is clear na [that] they are really going after me,” Duterte earlier told a press briefing.
Marcos and Duterte were running mates in the 2022 elections, but their relationship soured after the House of Representatives began questioning Duterte’s use of confidential and intelligence funds.
The House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability has launched an investigation into the alleged questionable budget use of the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education, which Duterte had led.
In an online press briefing over the weekend, Duterte bared that she has hired a person to kill Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and Speaker Martin Romualdez if ever an assassination plot against her succeeds.
Her statement prompted the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to conduct an investigation on her. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
