PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will not attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic (APEC) Summit in Peru next week, but he will send Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque as the country’s representative, Malacañang said Thursday.
The President will not attend the APEC summit to “prioritize domestic concerns, including government responses to calamities,” Presidential Communications Secretary Cesar Chavez said in a text message.
The APEC Summit, scheduled from Nov. 10 to 16 in Lima, Peru, will bring together the leaders, ministers, and senior officials of the 21 APEC member economies, which account for half of global trade and 60 percent of world gross domestic product, to shape the future of trade and globalization policies.

Meanwhile, the President appointed Noel Eugene Eusebio Servigon as the Philippines’ non-resident ambassador to Bulgaria and Moldova.
Servigon’s new appointment is in addition to his concurrent post as Philippine Ambassador to Romania.
Marcos also appointed Benjamin Turgano as acting president and chief executive officer of the Natural Resources Development Corp.
