MERALCO PowerGen Corp. (MGen) business unit Terra Solar Philippines Inc. (TSPI) has signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with China Energy Engineering Group Co. Ltd (Energy China) for the Terra Solar Project.
“Through this collaboration for Terra Solar, we aim to accelerate the nation’s energy transition journey and contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future,” MGen President and CEO Emmanuel Rubio said in a statement on Tuesday.
Under the agreement, Energy China and its affiliates will oversee all aspects of the project’s development including installation, integration, procurement, design, engineering, permitting, manufacturing, testing, logistics, and on-site delivery to ensure safe operations.
Energy China will also provide warranty coverage, address any defects, and implement operational and maintenance protocols to ensure the project’s long-term reliability and success.
“Choosing Energy China as our EPC partner was not on a mere whim,” TSPI President and Executive Director Dennis Jordan said. “We made sure that we have selected a company with an exceptional track record in delivering complex, large-scale renewable energy projects around the world.”
For his part, Meralco Chairman and CEO Manuel Pangilinan said: “We welcome the partnership with Energy China and we are confident that we can drive this project to completion, on time and beyond expectation.”
MGen is a business unit of Manila Electric Co. (Meralco).
On Tuesday, Meralco’s share price rose by P1.00 to close at P479.00 each.
