(UPDATE) THE National Housing Authority (NHA) and the Navotas City government on Saturday broke ground for another housing project for the city’s informal settler families.

NHA General Manager Joeben Tai, Mayor John Rey Tiangco and Rep. Tobias Tiangco led the groundbreaking ceremony for Navotaas Homes 5 Phase 2 in Barangay Tanza 1.

“The event marks the beginning of the construction of three low-rise buildings that will accommodate 180 beneficiaries upon completion,” the Tiangco brothers said.

Each unit will feature a 24-square meter floor area. The project will have vital facilities such as a community center, tricycle terminal and a police station.

The housing project is part of the Tiangco administration’s comprehensive plan to house the 6,500 remaining informal settler families (ISFs) in the city, who are residing in danger areas and waterways, the local government said.

Tai said the housing project was “part of the continued promise of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to provide homes and sustainable communities to the Filipino people.”

In total, 24 low-rise buildings will be constructed for 1,440 Navoteño families in the Navotaas Homes 5 Low Rise Building Housing Project.
