Delegates from the Department of National Defense (DND) participated in the 11th ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM)-Plus Experts Working Group on Cyber Security (EWG on CS) held in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

According to DND Spokesperson Arsenio Andolong, the meeting introduced member countries to the EWG Workplan for the 2024-2027 cycle which includes the revival of the EWG Web Portal that will be managed by the ADMM Cybersecurity and Information Center of Excellence (ACICE).

The Department was represented by Director Christine Cariño, Chief of the Office for Cyber and Information System Management (OCISM), and Colonel Joey Fontiveros, Commander of AFP Cyber Command.

Co-chaired by the Ministry of National Defense of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Australian Department of Defense, the meeting served as a platform for defense establishments from ASEAN and its eight Dialogue Partners to enhance practical cooperation on cybersecurity, promoting peace, stability, and development in the region.

The Philippines and New Zealand were the inaugural co-chairs of the ADMM-Plus EWG on CS from 2017 to 2020. During their tenure, they produced several key documents, including the Points of Contact (POC) Directory, a Glossary of Cyber Terminologies, the ADMM-Plus EWG on CS Portal, and conducted a Table-top Exercise (TTX) on Cyber Security.
