With its ongoing growth over the years, Watsons has reached another significant milestone by opening its 8,000th store in the Philippines at SM Mall of Asia. To celebrate this remarkable achievement, a grand event was held on November 7, attended by international Watsons executives and featuring performances from award-winning hip-hop dance group UPeepz and Asia’s songbird Regine Velasquez.
During the celebration, Dr. Malina Ngai, the Group CEO of AS Watson Group, expressed her excitement about the retailer’s expansion.
“The Philippines has been chosen for this momentous occasion because it is one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia and a strategic market for AS Watson. This vibrant market, with its young demographic, is increasingly focused on health and beauty, which aligns perfectly with Watsons’ expertise,” said Ngai.
The 8,000th store features a design aimed at enhancing the shopping experience for customers. It has a spacious layout with various zones, such as the Premium Beauty Zone, which includes a skin analyzer and exclusive skincare brands, and the Sustainable Choices Zone, showcasing Watsons’ wide range of sustainable products along with a refill station for some Naturals by Watsons items.
Notably, Watsons Philippines has been implementing its Offline plus Online (O+O) shopping experience, which the store continues to foster with its Click & Collect service. This allows customers to order online and pick up their purchases in-store within 30 minutes, in addition to several self-checkout counters. Another innovation enhancing the shopping experience is an online Health Supplement Advisor and personalized health consultations with pharmacists via chat.
“Watsons operates over 1,100 stores in the Philippines, and we’re thrilled that the opening of Watsons’ 8,000th store in Asia is happening here,” said Watsons Philippines Managing Director Danilo Chiong.
