Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Eli Remolona Jr. accepted an award from Global Finance Magazine founder and editorial director Joseph Giarraputo for receiving an “A-” rating under the publication’s 2024 Central Banker Report Cards in a ceremony held in Washington D.C. on Oct. 26, 2024.
Remolona was among 25 central bank leaders who were cited based on their performance in the past year in areas such as inflation control, economic growth goals, currency stability and interest rate management.
“Central banking is a tough job, but we have many sources of inspiration, foremost of which are my fellow Filipinos, who deserve all we can do to provide the foundation for their economic well-being,” said Remolona.
Global Finance magazine editors assessed central bankers based on both objective and subjective factors, including monetary policy effectiveness, supervision of the financial system, asset purchase programs, forecasting accuracy, transparency, political independence and success in meeting national mandates.
An algorithm ensures consistent grading across regions, with ratings ranging from “A+” to “F”.
