MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Ronald dela Rosa joined Vice President Sara Duterte at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City, where her chief of staff, lawyer Zulieka Lopez, was rushed Saturday morning after falling ill.
Dela Rosa’s staff said the senator was in Baguio at that time.
“Sen. Bato is now with VP Inday Sara inside St. Luke’s. He was in Baguio last night for several events and was supposed to attend another activity today in another province. But around 3 a.m., he traveled back to Manila when he learned what was happening inside the HoR detention,” said the staff.
Late Friday evening, the House of Representatives’ Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability ordered Lopez’s transfer from its detention facility to the Women’s Correctional Facility in Mandaluyong.
“Having considered your report and recommendation attached, the Committee on Good Governance and Public Accountability, in its special meeting held on November 22, 2024, called by its members, unanimously approved the transfer of detention of Atty. Zuleika T. Lopez from the House of Representatives to the Women’s Correctional Facility, Mandaluyong City,” the order read.
