As Typhoon ‘Ofel’ continues crossing the northeastern portion of mainland Luzon and Tropical Storm ‘Pepito’ heads for the eastern coast of Southern Luzon, several local government units (LGUs) in affected areas announced a suspension of classes for Friday, Nov. 15. 

The following areas have suspended classes at all levels, both public and private, until further notice:

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) already hoisted tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) no. 4 in Babuyan Islands, the northern and eastern portions of mainland Cagayan, and the northeastern portion of Isabela.

‘Ofel’ was monitored 50 km east northeast of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, moving west northwestward at 20 km per hour as of 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. It had maximum sustained winds of 175 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 240 km/h.

Residents are urged to stay updated and take necessary precautions as the typhoon continues to impact Northern Luzon.
