A woman went viral on social media after she stood for several minutes at a cemetery parking slot supposedly to reserve it for the vehicle of her companions which included her elderly parents and a child.
According to Katrina Son’s report on “Saksi,” the woman on the video that has been shared many times has asked for understanding, saying she regretted what she did for the parking slot.
The video showed the woman in a pink top talking on the phone while getting shouted at by another woman who wanted her to leave the space so her own companions in an SUV could park.
The incident happened at a cemetery in Las Piñas on the night of All Saints’ Day, November 1.
The woman said she initially argued her case but eventually realized that it was wrong to stand on the parking slot to reserve the space.
The video showed that she only left the spot after she appeared to have been pushed away by a third woman at the scene.
She said that she had already made amends with the occupants of the SUV.
The woman also asked for the public’s understanding.
“Sa lahat ng nagrere-upload ng video please, stop na po kase ang akin lang po okay na both sides, nagsisi naman po ako,” she added.
(To everyone who uploads videos please, stop because mine is the only one that’s okay on both sides, I’m sorry.)
According to a lawyer, there was no law against standing and reserving a parking space. Still, the lawyer said the woman caused public intimidation.
“Yung pagtayo niya it could amount to intimidation, iniintimidate mo yung tao by preventing them from parking so she could be held criminally liable. Kung public place na yan at wala naman siyang authority mali siya, bat siya tatayo dun para haharangin yung ibang tao na magpapark. Kase hindi naman prohibited na dapat nauna muna yung sasakyan niya,” said Attorney Mario Luna, Law Professor.
(Her, standing in the space could amount to intimidation, you intimidated the public by preventing them from parking so she could be held criminally liable. If it’s a public place and she doesn’t have authority, she is wrong. It is not prohibited to stand there to block other people from parking in the space.)
GMA Integrated News tried to get a statement from the woman who was angry with the woman who stood in the parking slot, but she is yet to respond.
A video of a woman standing in a parking slot to reserve it for her upcoming relatives has gone viral on social media.
According to Katrina Son’s report on GTV’s State of the Nation, the incident occurred in a parking lot of a cemetery in Las Pinas on November 1.
In the video, the woman wearing pink, who’s standing at a parking space was seen being yelled by another woman.
The commotion caused the traffic to slow down in the area but the argument continued even after a parking attendant arrived.
Another woman appeared and forcibly pushed and pushed aside the woman in pink.
“Unang-una, nag ca-cause sya ng any obstruction dun sa area. Kapag nakasanayan po natin yan ay magkakagulo po ang mangyayari sa parking eh,” said Police Captain Orlando Quintero, Zapote Substation Officer-In-Charge, Las Pinas Police.
(First, it caused obstruction in the area. If we get used to this, there will always be a commotion at the parking area.)
In a phone call with GMA Integrated News, the woman explained and said she was only thinking about her relatives, especially her parents who are senior citizens and those children with them. —Sherylin Untalan/NB, GMA Integrated News
