CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Ten members of the Calabarzon police have been commended for the arrest of the alleged killer of a resort owner in Bauan, Batangas.
The officers were members of the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Bauan police, according to the office of the National Police Commission in Calabarzon.
Napolcom-Calabarzon chief Owen de Luna said the team arrested Rolando Mauro in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro on Nov. 23.
De Luna said the suspect hid in different areas in the province for six months before he was arrested in Barangay Sto. Niño.
Police said witnesses positively identified Mauro as the one who allegedly killed resort owner Carmen Maranan in Barangay Durungao in June.
De Luna thanked Mataas Na Kahoy Vice Mayor Jay Ilagan for offering a reward in exchange for information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect.
“This proves that our community is cooperating with our law enforcers in preventing criminal activities,” De Luna said.
