MALABON City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval announced on Sunday that 84,048 residents will receive the fourth tranche of their cash aid this year through the Malabon Ahon Blue Card (MABC).

“This is just part of the city government’s initiatives to bring joy and love to the Malabuenyos especially this holiday season,” she said.

City administrator Alexander Rosete said that the MABC holders may claim the financial aid through any BancNet-powered automated teller machines and USSC branches nationwide.

“They can also use the MABC as a debit card at drug stores, fast food chains, supermarkets, malls and other stores that accept payments through POS (point of sale) machines until December 20,” Rosete told The Manila Times.

Eligible MABC holders will receive a text message from the USSC if their cash aid is already available for withdrawal.

Catherine Larracas, the city’s monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) office head, clarified that all MABC beneficiaries are eligible for the fourth cash assistance except for new blue card holders or those who claimed their cards only on November 25, and the others who have not yet claimed their MABCs.

Sandoval said her administration has been maximizing the resources of the local government to make sure that more financial aid along with hospital and burial assistance would be extended to her constituents, especially those in the poor sector.

“Of course, these are only few of the other existing pro-people and pro-poor programs that we have been implementing since I assumed the city’s top post in 2022,” she told this newspaper.

Rosete said MABC is one of Sandoval’s flagship programs designed to provide regular financial aid to the residents.

“Its goals are to improve the quality of life, develop the local economy, ensure a fair distribution of assistance, and promote transparent government management,” Rosete said.

He added that the program distributes financial aid to MABC holders every quarter, in addition to offering hospitalization and burial assistance to those in need.

A total of P2,000 cash is given to an MABC holder for this year, Larracas said.

Moreover, Malabuenyos would also be receiving their ham and five-kilo rice on December 22 as part of the mayor’s “Pamaskong Handog” to her constituents, the city administrator said.
