EVEN way ahead of bidding 2024 adieu, Ai Ai de las Alas seemed to have begun charting a new chapter in her life (minus Gerald Sibayan, of course).
On a common college friend’s Facebook wall was a series of photos and videos taken recently at the carport of the comedienne’s Quezon City residence.
It was supposed to be Ai Ai and her really close buddies’ traditional holiday get-together.
As always, Ai Ai and her closely knit company get bonded with a common passion — videoke singing.
It is through this perpetually choral activity that they become their real selves.
They have improvised dance choreography that will put to shame the best terpsichoreans showbiz has ever known.
To top it all, the convivial party is never without the interminable, raucous laughter enough to attract neighbors far and wide to report a case of public alarm and scandal.
Since people living nearby are aware that they share the same posh village with Ai Ai, it seems like even an honor to get their peace disturbed.
Just to get the feel of being right there myself, I did some still photo/video scrolling.
There was Ai Ai who monopolized the videoke — belting out All the Single Ladies alongside two other female chums. Out of tune though, the entertainment value was at its peak.
Unable to contain the fun any longer, our common friend walked near the sound system and announced on mic: “Kaya kayo hinihiwalayan ng mga asawa n’yo, eh!” (No wonder, your husbands left you!)
Impervious to their friend’s comment, all three back-to-being single ladies just couldn’t get enough of their “pagwawala.”
Ai Ai wouldn’t stop laughing at her heart’s content, exchanging high fives with the two other co-“separadas.”
Around them was their audience, singing and dancing along as well as cajoling the trio for a perfectly chosen repertoire that got everybody in stitches.
Sizing up Ai Ai on the outside, one would sure ask — is this the wife who her husband broke up with in the dead of the night on November 11, her birthday at that?
Is that the heavily crushed Ai Ai who shed buckets upon seeing Alden Richards at the taping of “All Out Sunday” on the same day — with the actor as her shoulder to cry on?
Is that the girl in an all-white dress who was Boy Abunda’s guest on Fast Talk that very same day, too — who looked in pain on TV but sans the histrionic acting?
If still unconvinced, yes, it’s unquestionably Ai Ai exactly one and a half months after their breakup on Messenger.
Yes, the Concert Queen who promised to get a life from hereon. The woman who’s “zumba-ing” her way and prettifying herself all over again.
Yes, she’s the reinvigorated actress with an MMFF entry in 2025 to watch out for.
Yes, she’s the self-appointed godmother of the all-male rap group from Dasmariñas (Cavite) called Outcast who she’s giving her all-out support to because of its members’ love-for-their- mothers ditty.
Yes, almost like a detergent bar — she is the “new, improved” Ai Ai who’s washing all her emotional stains off her.
The best of luck, “kapatid”!
