CEBU Pacific on Friday said it had taken delivery of its 16th aircraft this year to further strengthen its fleet and accommodate growing travel demand.
The brand-new A330neo 459-seater aircraft arrived in Manila on Dec. 19 and raised the number of A330neos in the budget carrier’s fleet to 10.
“The A330neo’s versatility and efficiency are key to our goal of providing affordable and reliable travel options for every Juan,” said Xander Lao, CEB president and chief commercial officer.
“This aircraft enables us to serve high-traffic routes and long-haul destinations more effectively while optimizing seat capacity to accommodate increasing demand,” he added.
Airbus NEOs are latest-generation aircraft that burn 15 percent less fuel per flight and produce less noise compared to the previous generation.
In October, Cebu Pacific announced that it had signed a landmark purchase agreement with Airbus and Pratt & Whitney for up to 152 A321neo aircraft.
The acquisition was described as the largest in Philippine aviation history, valued at approximately $24 billion (P1.4 trillion) based on list prices.
Cebu Pacific operates one of the youngest fleets in the world, comprising a mix of 10 A330s, 40 A320s, 25 A321s and 15 ATR turboprop aircraft.
Shares of Cebu Pacific operator Cebu Air Inc. on Friday fell by 2.51 percent, or 70 centavos to P27.15 apiece
