OVER 6,000 farmers now own the land they are tilling in Cagayan province.
Recently, the Department of Agrarian Reform Provincial Office of Cagayan (Darpo Cagayan) awarded Certificates of Condonation with Release of Mortgage (CoCRoMs) to 6,300 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in the province, granting ownership of over 6,303 hectares of land.
The ceremony was held in the municipality of Solana.
In addition, 581 ARBs received 900 Emancipation Patents and Certificates of Land Ownership Award (EP/CLOA), which entitles the awardees to over 728 hectares of agricultural land in Cagayan.
A total of P80 million was also allocated for five farm-to-market roads (FMRs) in the municipalities of Amulung, Abulug and Gattaran.
Darpo Cagayan said these FMRs are part of its efforts to facilitate agricultural product transport by boosting rural connectivity.
Sen. Imee Marcos attended the event, saying the farmers have long been waiting for the condonation of debts and the promised land titles.
She added the government is steadfast in its commitment to rural development and agrarian reform.
Darpo Cagayan vowed to continue working for land tenure security, supporting agricultural development, and empowering rural communities in pursuing the vision of a prosperous, sustainable agricultural sector.
