THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) received the Rafael M. Salas Kaunlarang Pantao Award from the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) for promoting responsible parenting among recipients of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
The DSWD’s integration of responsible parenthood and family planning (RPFP) into 4Ps contributed to the achievement of the Philippine Population and Development Plan of Action 2023-2028.
“The DSWD, through the 4Ps, fully understands the critical role of population dynamics in shaping our nation’s future,” Social Welfare Undersecretary Vilma Cabrera said on Wednesday.
“We at the DSWD are resolute in our commitment to closely work with the CPD and other stakeholders, ensuring our programs align seamlessly with the Philippine Population and Development Plan of Action,” she added.
Cabrera said RPFP’s integration into 4Ps between 2014 and 2016 required couples to attend family planning information and support sessions.
As part of program compliance, beneficiaries were required to attend sessions on family welfare, parenting, and community engagement.
“We will continue to advocate for more comprehensive policies and programs that address the diverse needs of our population, promote gender equality, and empower women and children in need,” Cabrera said.
