ZAMBOANGA CITY – Three members of a family died in a fire that destroyed several houses and commercial estblishments in Isabela, Basilan on Monday.
Anajer Cabato, 54; his wife Hja Hadjira, 40, and their daughter Jehana, 17, were reportedly trapped in their house in Barangay Kaumpurna Zone 1, according to village chairman Jaider Judnam.
He said the victims could have been asleep when the fire broke out at around 4 a.m.
Arson investigators said the fire started at the store of the Cabatos, which was located on the ground floor of their two-story residence.
Probers are eyeing faulty power connection as the cause of the fire.
