MANILA, Philippines — Hollywood actress Gal Gadot revealed she suffered a “massive blood clot” in her brain while pregnant with her fourth child.
In posts on social media, Gadot shared her health scare to the public as a form of processing, awareness and call for support.
The actress said she was diagnosed with the blood clot last February during the eighth month of her pregnancy, confined to bed and enduring headaches until an MRI confirmed the clot.
“In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live,” Gadot said.
She was rushed to hospital and had emergency surgery to give birth to her daughter Ori, which Gadot said means “my light.”
“Before the surgery, I told Jaron that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel,” Gadot said, adding she made it through the surgery and is now fully healed.

Gadot ended her post with data stating that three in 100,000 pregnant women over 30 years old are diagnosed with CVT (cerebral venous thrombosis) or develop a blood clot in the brain.
“While rare, it’s a possibility, and knowing it exists is the first step to addressing it. Sharing this is not meant to frighten anyone but to empower,” Gadot finished. “If even one person feels compelled to take action for their health because of this story, it will have been worth sharing.”
Among those who offered well wishes were Sacha Baron Cohen, Maria Sharapova, Tara Strong, Gina Carano, and Meadow Walker.
Gadot and her husband Jaron are also parents to daughters Alma, Maya, and Daniella since marrying in 2008.
She will next be seen in Disney’s live-action remake of “Snow White” as the Evil Queen opposite the titular character played by Rachel Zegler.
