SUBSIDIES to government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCCs) totaled P11.97 billion in October, data from the Bureau of the Treasury showed, higher than the P9.19 billion recorded a year earlier but down from September’s P18.22 billion.
Year to date, GOCC subsidies rose to P117.21 billion, lower than the P146.32 billion in January-October 2023.
Government financial institutions (GFIs) received P15 million in October, up from zero last year but markedly lower than September’s P642 million.
As of end-October, GFIs had received P5.44 billion, surging from P486 million in the same period last year.
Appropriations to major nonfinancial state firms increased to P10.72 billion, higher than the P8.18 billion and P6.91 billion seen a year and a month earlier, respectively.
This took the tally so far for the year to P77.06 billion, an increase from the P66.54 billion seen as of end-October last year.
Disbursements to other state-owned firms, meanwhile, dropped to P1.24 billion in October from P10.61 billion a month earlier but were higher than the year-earlier P1.01 billion.
The January to October count, however, plunged to P34.71 billion from lP79.27 billion.
The National Irrigation Administration took the lion’s share of October subsidies at P5.83 billion from P4.10 billion a year earlier.
The National Food Authority followed with P3.0 billion, up from P2.01 billion. In third was the National Housing Authority, with P1.73 billion from P1.15 billion a year ago.
Rounding up the top five were the Philippine Children’s Medical Center, P211 million, up from P179 billion last year, and the Philippine Heart Center, P168 million from P178 million.
