Members of the House of Representatives, citing the Philippine Constitution, “reaffirmed” their support for President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. on Thursday.

In a two-page manifesto titled “A Declaration of Unity, Loyalty, and Resolve in Defense of the Nation,” the House led by the President’s cousin and Speaker Martin Romualdez said that the House members are unwavering on their commitment to defend the democratic institutions and sovereignty of the nation.

“At all costs, we will stand united with President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to uphold and defend the Constitution, ensure the welfare of our people, and safeguard the future of our nation,” House lawmakers said in their manifesto.

“We, the Members of the House of Representatives, solemnly affirm that our collective strength lies in the unity of purpose, fidelity to our democratic principles, and unwavering commitment to serve the Filipino people,” they added.

The manifesto was released less than 24 hours after over 200 House members met the President for a “fellowship” in the Palace on Wednesday night, December 4.

It also comes a day after a second impeachment complaint was filed against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Meanwhile, Manila lawmaker and House good government and public accountability chairperson Joel Chua said that there were “no impeachment talks” when they met Marcos in Malacanang on Wednesday.

Chua added that the fellowship was a mere exchange of pleasantries.
