VICE President Sara Duterte said she is not inclined to forgive her enemies even during the Christmas season.

In a speech in Ifugao last Tuesday but was only released to the media by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) Wednesday night, Duterte said that despite the Christmas being a season of forgiveness, giving, and love, she said that these values always depend on the person.

“I always say that it depends on the person, but because I am vice president, I want to tell you that [forgiveness] is part of the Christmas spirit, but personally, I am not going to forgive,” she said.

“Some people readily forgive, some forgive slowly, while some carry their anger until death,” she added.

She urged her audience not to spend lavishly on Christmas.

“What is important is we have a simple celebration and everyone is happy.”

Her visit to Ifugao is part of the OVP’s 89th anniversary celebration.

Sought to comment on Duterte’s remarks, La Union Rep. Francisco Paolo Ortega V told the vice president to forgive herself first.

Meanwhile, the OVP thanked those who supported its employees during the crisis that the office is going through.

The office thanked Sen. Ronald dela Rosa, who accompanied OVP Undersecretary Zuleika Lopez in the hospital last November 23, and Sen. Bong Go, who substituted for Duterte.

The office also thanked Sen. Imee Marcos for ensuring that Duterte and dela Rosa can stay with Lopez during her confinement at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
