VIETNAM – Homegrown fast food giant Jollibee is marking a new milestone in the brand’s largest international market outside the Philippines.
Asian food conglomerate Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC) is opening today its 200th Jollibee store in Vietnam.
“It started because our CEO had a vision, and the vision was that Vietnam can be the next Philippines. Apparently, he was referring to the dominance that Jollibee is having in its home country,” Dennis Flores, Jollibee Group regional business head for Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australia, said.
“The reason he said that is because we saw many commonalities between the two countries, Vietnam and the Philippines. First is the population. Next is we saw a lot of similarities between the Vietnamese and the Filipinos as far as culture and values are concerned,” he said.
JFC opened its first Jollibee store in Vietnam in 2005, then expanded its network to 50 by 2014. In 2017, it opened its 100th store in Vietnam.
“If you look at the timeline, it took us 12 years to open the first 100 stores and seven years to open the next 100 to reach 200 stores,” Flores said.
Jollibee’s growth in Vietnam underscores the company’s success in foreign market penetration.
It also reinforces its commitment to international growth in its aim to be among the top five restaurant companies in the world.
Moving forward, Jollibee is committed to continuing with its strategic expansion in key cities in Vietnam as it looks to dominate the country’s quick service restaurant (QSR) industry.
“Two hundred stores – that’s an amazing achievement, but the future looks even brighter. The vision is to be the QSR with the widest store network and the most preferred brand here in Vietnam,” Flores said.
