FORMER Bureau of Internal Revenue commissioner Kim Henares has been named chairman of Basic Energy Corp., and Alberto Emilio Ramos was also named director following the resignation of Ramon Mapa.
“Ms. Kim Jacinto-Henares and Alberto Emilio Ramos shall serve the unexpired term of office and shall serve as chair of the board and director, respectively, until their successors are duly elected and qualified,” Basic Energy told the stock exchange on Thursday.
The company, meanwhile, also said that its board had approved the authority to implement solar projects in Cadiz (Negros Oriental), Mariveles (Bataan), and Bolinao (Pangasinan).
Basic Energy said it will set aside a pre-development budget, apply for a service contract with the Department of Energy, and secure relevant permits and rights over the lands where the projects will be implemented.
The 61-year-old Henares joined Basic Energy on May 12, 2021, as an independent director, and starting Jan. 1 will assume the firm’s chairmanship.
Ramos, meanwhile, was former president and director at Malayan Savings Bank from 2020 until March 2024.
He also served as China Banking Corp. executive vice president from 2006 to 2019, was AIG-Philam Asset Management Inc. president (2004-2006), and Bank of the Philippine Islands vice president (1993-2004).
Basic Energy’s share price rose by 4 centavos to close at P0.13 each.
