MANILA, Philippines — A district officer of the Land Transportation Office (LTO)-National Capital Region is in hot water after it was found that registration papers of a truck involved in a fatal accident were fraudulent.
The LTO did not name the officer, who was summoned to explain why the truck was registered even without the necessary roadworthiness inspection.
The truck, an Isuzu wing van with license plate JA0-6375, was involved in an accident along the Skyway in Parañaque earlier this month.
One person died and five others were injured in the accident.
LTO chief Vigor Mendoza said the officer has five days to explain why no administrative sanction should be imposed on him for violating the 2017 Rules on Administrative Cases in the Civil Service.
“We want to have a clear explanation from the LTO officer involved, under the concept of command responsibility, as to why the truck was registered without the necessary roadworthiness inspection,” Mendoza said.
