The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the license of a truck driver involved in a fatal crash along the C5 Road in Taguig that left one person dead and two others injured.

In a statement released on Saturday, the LTO announced that the driver’s license would be suspended for 90 days, while the truck involved in the incident would be placed “under alarm” pending further investigation.

“We have issued a Show Cause Order to both the driver and the registered owner of the truck, requiring them to explain why they should not face penalties under existing laws and traffic regulations,” said LTO  Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza.

The driver was instructed to provide a notarized explanation justifying why his license should not be revoked. Similarly, the truck owner was asked to explain why they should not be held administratively liable for employing a reckless driver.

Both parties were directed to appear at the LTO  Central Office in Quezon City on December 27 to present their written explanations.

“Failure to appear and submit your written response will compel this Office to resolve the matter based on the available evidence on record,” the order stated. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
