President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday signed the 2025 General Appropriations Act after some delay.

The budget, initially amounting to P6.352 trillion, was reduced to P6.326 trillion as Marcos vetoed P194 billion worth of line items that he deemed “inconsistent with the administration’s priority programs.”

Marcos signed Republic Act (RA) 12116 or “An Act Appropriating Funds for the Operation of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines from January 1 to December 31, 2025,” in a ceremony at Malacañang Palace in Manila.

Malacañang said the budget was meticulously reviewed to ensure alignment with the administration’s objectives in achieving the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.

“The 2025 National Budget underscores the Administration’s commitment to social services, education and health, while also addressing the critical needs for infrastructure development and agricultural support,” the Palace said.
