PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and first lady Liza Araneta-Marcos on Sunday spread some holiday cheer to underprivileged children during the first family’s traditional gift-giving activity in Malacañang.
The 2,199 children from 17 local government units from Metro Manila and three LGUs from the Visayas and Mindanao received their gifts personally at the Palace. Another 27,899 participated via livestream from 17 LGUs and 62 Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) centers nationwide.
Each child received a gift set, including a trolley bag, pillow, raincoat, socks, face and hand towel, tumbler, and watch. The first couple was joined by sons Joseph Simon and William Vincent.
“This has been a tradition of the Marcos family… Since Christmas is for the children, we made sure that even those from far away, their families, and their loved ones, feel the spirit of the season,” the president said in Filipino.
The gift-giving activity, an initiative of the Office of the President, began in 2022 in partnership with the DSWD, private orphanages and communities nationwide.
