MANILA, Philippines — Megaworld Corp. is poised to unleash more township developments next year, fueled by its bullish prospects for the country’s property sector.
Kevin Tan, president and CEO of Alliance Global Group, the parent firm of Megaworld, said the company would build new townships in more areas across the country in 2025.
“We’re still finalizing next year but I think we’re looking at at least two to three minimum for launches,” Tan said.
“We see that interest rates will keep going down and I think that’s the biggest thing to look forward to next year,” he said.
Megaworld launched a total of four townships this year, finishing 2024 with 35 townships in line with the celebration of its 35 years in the Philippine real estate industry.
Megaworld has launched two tourism-related townships in Batangas earlier this year—Lialto Beach and Golf Estates in Lian and San Benito Private Estate in Lipa.
The company likewise expanded its township portfolio further to the north with the launch of iIlocandia Coastown, an 84-hectare integrated lifestyle community in Laoag, Ilocos Norte.
Recently, it started development of a 117-hectare integrated lifestyle community in the highlands of Cagayan de Oro City called The Upper Central.
Megaworld president Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso said that 2024 is a milestone year for the company.
“In 2024, we announced and launched the most number of township in the history of Megaworld. It’s four townships with 400 hectares. Two in Batangas, one in Cagayan de Oro and one in Ilocos Norte. It’s a good way to end our 35th year with 35 townships,” she said.
