A 19-year-old motorcycle rider, Limuel Disierra, lost his life after being struck and run over by a bus in Antipolo, Rizal.
According to a report by Bea Pinlac on 24 Oras Weekend, CCTV footage captured the incident on Buliran Road in Barangay San Isidro.
The footage showed the bus slowing down, seemingly passing over a pothole. Moments later, Disierra was seen lying on the ground next to his motorcycle.
(When my cousin attempted to overtake, the bus brushed past him, causing him to lose balance. He was thrown off the motorcycle, and the bus ran him over.)
Dela Cruz shared a heartbreaking conversation with Disierra before his death: “Sabi niya, ‘Hindi ko na kaya.’
(He told me he couldn’t hold on anymore. I urged him to fight because it’s Christmastime, but he eventually lost consciousness.)
Antipolo Police Chief P/Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Manongdo confirmed that the bus was part of a convoy transporting students for an educational tour.
While the first two buses passed the road smoothly, the third appeared to have hit a bump.
Authorities arrested the bus driver at a themed park in Laguna.
(I didn’t feel or see anything—no motorcycle in my side mirrors, no lights. I didn’t mean to do it, and I ask for their forgiveness.)
However, Disierra’s family demanded justice and rejected the driver’s claims.
(He should tell the truth and not deny responsibility.)
The bus driver faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, as Disierra’s relatives vow to pursue the case.
“Sana po hustisya na lang ‘yung amin. Tuloy po ‘yung kaso para sa kaniya,” said Jobert Rivano, also Disierra’s cousin.
(We just want justice. The case will proceed.) — Mariel Celine Serquiña/DVM, GMA Integrated News
