The National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (NAASCU) reigned supreme in the CHED All-Star Friendship Games as it defeated the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) in the finals, 80-69, last December 13 at the Amoranto Stadium in Quezon City.
Prior to this, NAASCU swept the elimination round with wins against LCUAA (85-65), SCUAA (88-66), and PRISAA (97-57).
The Local Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (LCUAA), meanwhile, bagged the bronze medal after defeating the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) in the third place match, 99-95, after two overtime periods.
In the opening exhibition match of the Friendship Games last December 11, the National Collegiate Athletic Association defeated the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, 105-97.
The NCAA squad is composed of Season 100 Mythical Team members Ato Barba of Lyceum of the Philippines and TJ Felebrico of San Sebastian College-Recoletos, third placers Yukien Andrada and Emman Tagle of San Beda University, Arellano’s T-Mc Ongotan and Lawrence Capulong, Emilio Aguinaldo’s King Gurtiza and Harvey Pagsanjan, LPU’s Renz Villegas, San Sebastian’s Paeng Are, University of Perpetual Help’s Mark Gojo Cruz and Christian Pagaran, Letran’s Deo Cuajao, and JRU’s Joshua Guiab and MJ Raymundo. Red Lions head coach Yuri Escueta handled the team.

The UAAP squad, meanwhile, has the likes of UE’s John Abate, NU’s Mark Parks, and La Salle’s Santi Romero, among others.
