GMA Network is the leading television station for news and information among adult Filipinos, according to the latest survey by OCTA Research.
The recent Tugon ng Masa survey revealed that 90% of adult Filipinos rely on GMA Network for their news and information needs.
Following GMA in the survey results were TV5 at 56%, ABS-CBN/Kapamilya at 41%, PTV at 14%, and A2Z at 13%.
“Across major areas, at least 85% of adult Filipinos use GMA Network as a news source, with the highest percentage recorded in Balance Luzon at 93%,” the survey reported.
Regionally, GMA Network maintained its dominance as the top source of news and information in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and BARMM, where 100% of respondents identified it as their primary news source.
However, the lowest usage was observed in the Bicol Region, where only 45% of adult Filipinos rely on GMA Network.
The survey also highlighted that GMA Network garnered a trust rating of 98%, with only 2% of respondents expressing ambivalence regarding its trustworthiness.
“Across major areas, trust ratings for GMA Network range from 95% to 99%, with the lowest percentage recorded in NCR. In terms of socioeconomic classes, trust ratings range from 94% to 98%, with Class ABC registering slightly lower trust levels,” OCTA Research noted.
Radio Rankings
For radio news, Bombo Radyo emerged as the most-used station among adult Filipinos.
“Across major areas, Bombo Radyo is particularly prominent in Mindanao, where 54% of respondents use it, although its usage drops in Balance Luzon, where only 26% rely on it for news,” the survey stated.
Other top radio stations included Brigada News FM and Super Radyo dzBB.
The Tugon ng Masa (TNM) nationwide survey is an independent and non-partisan study. Fieldwork for the survey was carried out from November 10 to 16, 2024, using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 male and female respondents aged 18 and above. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
