Philippine Men’s National Football Team goalkeeper Patrick Deyto will miss the rest of the ASEAN Championship Mitsubishi Electric Cup due to injury.
Deyto announced the development on Monday.
“Took a couple days to process everything, unfortunately this is the end of my AFF campaign,” Deyto wrote in the caption of his social media post.
In one of the photos he posted, he was seen wearing a cast on his right leg.
He sustained the injury during the early minutes of the match against Indonesia last December 21, which finished with a 1-0 win and allowed the Philippines to advance to the semifinals of the AFF Cup. Quincy Kammeraad, meanwhile, took over his place.
Deyto thanked those who supported him and the team in the campaign.
“No way around this one though, Time to take a step away from the sport i love for now but I will keep believing in myself and that things will become better because that belief is fundamental to staying alive.”
The development also came after Patrick Reichelt announced the end of his journey with the national team.
The Philippines, meanwhile, will face Thailand in the semifinals of the ASEAN Championship on Friday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
